Out of respect of the recent death of series regular Cory Monteith, Glee‘s fifth outing, season-wise, has been pushed back a week, from Sept. 19 to Sept. 26, Fox has just announced. Fans have been in a tizzy over the last week since Monteith’s death on Saturday as to what will happen to their beloved show with the passing of one its brightest stars.
This latest announcement reflects a decision by Fox and 20th Century Fox Television to delay the start of production until early August to allow more time for the cast and crew of the hit dramedy to mourn the loss of their brother and friend.
The musical dramedy’s Season 5 premiere will now air at 9/8c on Thursday, Sept. 26.
The 31-year-old Monteith passed away unexpectedly this past Saturday, July 13 in Vancouver from what an autopsy recently determined was “a mixed drug toxicity that involved heroin, primarily, and also alcohol.”
