Diva superstar Mariah Carey is not returning to American Idol. And judging from Nicki Minaj’s tweet this afternoon, looks like she is following her perceived arch rival high heels err, footsteps as well – out the door.
The multi-awarded Grammy® pop star’s publicity firm, PMK-BNC tweeted today that she is not returning to the aging reality singing competition and will be planning a world tour, thanks in part to the success of her new single “#BEAUTIFUL”.
Tensions, drama, diva bickering and dwindling ratings plagued the once popular American Idol series this year. It was reported that Mariah received an $18M salary this year but judging from the low ratings of the show, it was not a wise investment from the show’s producers.
Randy Jackson, the long holdover from the original judges panel (Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul) has resigned from the show this season. Reports say that former finalist Jennifer Hudson is close to negotiations in joining the next season with possibly former winners Kelly Clarkson and/or Adam Lambert in the judges panel.
