This just keeps getting better Cloverfield fans!
The 2008 film Cloverfield was a mind-blowing monster flick, through the perspective of a camera lens - unlike any other creature feature we had seen before. The cult classic recognition it earned helped push things along after 8 years, when J.J. Abrams recently dropped the trailer for the surprise "blood relative" of Cloverfield, titled 10 Cloverfield Lane. Fans (myself included) have been digging up any information we can find regarding the new Cloverfield installment, with some wondering just how involved the film can be to the prior events of the NYC attack, and now Abrams has offered us a little hint at the future of the Cloverfield universe.
While talking to EW Abrams mentioned the theories that the connection wasn't a major inclusion, stating, “I think that would be presumptuous, because we’re talking about this movie and comparing it to Cloverfield,” The producer continued and offered a notion at a bigger plan in the making, “But I would be lying if I didn’t say there was something else that, if we’re lucky enough to do it, could be really cool that connects some stories.” This has been Abrams first time discussing the future of the Cloverfield franchise, and the thought of seeing a third installment after of 10 Cloverfield Lane's release has me even more excited for the upcoming sequel.
His final hint at this supposed third Cloverfield film explained, “This is just this movie, and it’s only two films that we’re talking about right now. There is something else that we’d like to do, and hopefully we’ll get a shot.” Though the director/producer doesn't have cemented plans as of yet, knowing that Abrams and company have additional Cloverfield stories brewing ensures that there is a chance to see our beloved Clovie (monster) and hopefully the possible return of Rob and Lily?
