Every week, we tend to find ourselves THIRSTING for new music – whether it be from our favorite artists we already know and love or new artists. This week, we were introduced to an artist from Canada who, sounds like nobody out there right now. Jacob Ezra is a vocalist and producer, and he has just released an amazing, upbeat, vibey sound to him, & it’s unforgettable.
Jacob takes a lot of his influence from artists in electronic, hip-hop and jazz genres to create a style that is simultaneously futuristic and retro. Interested in capturing surreal, dreamlike sounds with his music, he enjoys constantly experimenting constantly.
Now, you may actually recognize Jacob, but maybe you aren’t familiar with his music (which we are hoping to change). Alongside his musical output, he is a writer for the renowned blog EARMILK and runs an independent production and promotion company called Roundhouse Music Co.
On making “JULY”, Jacob told us: “For “JULY”, I just wanted to let go and go with the flow in every aspect. For past releases, I was often really hard on myself, but for this one I wanted to ease up and making something more weightless”.
“JULY” is a hip-hop instrumental with house and electronic influences. It is refreshing and summery in tone, providing a much needed dose of optimism in these dark times. With sound that is energetic yet easy going, it incorporates even more danceability into a hip-hop beat.
& no doubt, you will find yourself obsessed with it and wanting to find more from him. Now this track is only available on select networks, but Jacob does have a collection of other things on major DSPs.
