As one of Hollywood’s hottest stars at the moment you’d think James Franco wouldn’t have any more time to put his name on anything else, boy were we wrong.
After receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and cementing his name as one of the greatest actors of the decade; James Franco has now signed up for a two-episode stint on the FOX comedy, The Mindy Project.
Mindy Kaling, writer and star of the show, must’ve talked him in to the opportunity after she briefly appeared in his latest film This Is the End. Franco’s not the only one from the film to guest on The Mindy Project. Seth Rogen who wrote and starred in the film appeared in the show as Mindy’s old friend and love interest, Sam, earlier this year.
The press release on Franco’s character says he will play Dr. Paul Leotard, a former fashion model who decided to join the medical profession after accidentally walking off the runway during fashion week, only to be saved by a pregnant woman.
He’s been drafted in to cover Mindy, whilst she’s away doing volunteer work with her boyfriend in Haiti.
His character seems like he could be competition for fellow womanizer, Jeremy Reed. Producers have said his character will be ‘charismatic and popular’.
Other celebrities to have guest-starred on the show are: Anna Camp (Gwen), Allison Williams (Jillian), Stephen Tobolowsky (Dr Schulman) and Bill Hader (Tom),
