As if you didn’t have enough reasons to be excited for the long-awaited sequel to Anchorman, here’s one more! It was confirmed today that James Marsden has been cast…as Ron Burgundy’s nemesis!
Not much has been released regarding the film, which begins shooting in Atlanta, GA, this March. Earlier this month, Christina Applegate (who will be returning as Veronica Corningstone) leaked news via Twitter that we can also look forward to seeing Kristen Wiig.
The film, officially titled Ron Burgundy: The Legend Continues, is scheduled for wide release December 2013. Many of the original film’s lead roles will be reprised including, Brick Tamblin (Steve Carell), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), and Champ Kind (David Koechner). It goes without saying, of course, that Ron Burgundy himself, Will Farrell, will be returning as well.
Marsden may be best known for his role as Cyclops in the X-Men film franchise, but he has also got some memorable comedic experience! Most recently, he played Liz Lemon’s love interest in the final two seasons of 30 Rock, and he also made a hilarious appearance on an episode of Modern Family.
Fun fact about James Marsden: He played John Wilkes Booth in the 2001 comedy classic Zoolander.
