As a member of the Academy actress Jamie Lee Curtis took to the Huffington Post’s blog to voice her opinion of the Oscars. Miss Curtis was a not a fan of Seth McFarlane’s performance stating:
“I was offended last week. As an Academy member, as the child of former Academy members and as a woman, I expected more from the best that the movie business has to offer. The Oscars are about honoring art and artists. It is not supposed to be a cheesy vaudeville show.”
Curtis then goes on to explain that the time honored award show has become more of a roast then a celebration of the cinematic arts. The biggest thorn in her side was McFarlane’s cheeky number about boobs. As a woman who has previously exposed her breasts for a role that was significant in her career she expressed,
“I didn’t like doing it. I didn’t ask if I could do them topless. I did what was asked of me for the part I was playing. Mostly asked by men.”
She did state that she was familiar with McFarlane and his humor as her son is a fan, not to mention she has been the butt of a few of his jokes. Which almost makes me believe she went into viewing the show with a bit of a bias against the host.
Were you offended by Seth McFarlane? Or did you feel like you knew what you were getting yourself into? Let us know!
