Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter, Maddie Spears, is on her way to a full recovery!
On February 5, the 8-year-old daughter of Jamie Lynn, 25, was transported to a New Orleans hospital after being seriously injured when she lost control of her ATV at her home in Kentwood, Louisiana. She was submerged underwater for an unknown number of minutes. Paramedics arrived and were able to save the child after Jamie Lynn and her husband Jaime Watson, 34, attempted to rescue her from the water.
According to Watson, Maddie is doing better and has regained consciousness. She is reportedly up walking and talking. Watson -- who is Maddie's stepdad -- took to Instagram to share heartfelt sincerity about his little girl. "Thank you to everyone for the prayers. Maddie is doing better and better," he posted. "Thank ya'll so much." He accompanied this post with what appeared to be an embroidered shirt reading "Believe in Miracles."
Jamie Lynn has remained silent since the terrifying accident and rightfully so. Aunt Britney Spears canceled her rehearsals to return home and be beside her little sister.
Jamie Lynn sparked controversy back in 2007 when she and then boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, announced they were expecting a baby. She comes from a southern, religious home, and many questioned why she was not only 16 and pregnant but also unwed. This went against everything the family seemingly stood for. At that time, Jamie was the star of Nickelodeon T.V. series Zoey 101, and fans were disappointed to learn the show would not be renewed for another season. Jamie Lynn has been keeping a low profile ever since, although she briefly attempted a career in the country-music industry. She spoke to People Magazine about Maddie last summer.
“She’s got such a sweet little heart. I feel like I’ve raised her with a lot of honesty, but I’ve also raised her with a lot of love."
