If you are a Matt Damon fan, then there is little to no chance that you are not a huge fan of the Bourne movies. As a Jason Bourne devotee myself, I am thrilled to hear Matt Damon talking about the possibility of a comeback to the films. Jeremy Renner took over the lead role in the last movie, “Bourne Legacy,” as Aaron Cross, spinning the story that there are other super soldiers in the Treadstone and Blackbriar project, and Jason Bourne was not the only one. When asked in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly if he and Jeremy Renner could possibly share the screen, he says “That would be their dream.” “Tony’s whole thing was, ‘Look, my story won’t preclude Matt from doing another one. This one can live on a parallel track.’”
(Personal note: As a Bourneaholic, I would love to see Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner pair up on the big screen for another Bourne film. I thought Renner did an excellent job in Legacy and I think pairing he and Damon in a dual Bourne story would make for some major onscreen action.)
In the meantime if you need a Matt Damon fix, you can find him all bronzed and decked out in a metallic thong in the new HBO movie, “Behind the Candelabra.” The film is based on the memoir by Scott Thorsen, who was Liberace’s lover, partner, and companion from 1978 to 1982. Damon, who plays Thorsen in the film, is definitely taking on a role that is the polar opposite from Jason Bourne. In his talks with EW, he was asked about the love scenes, which are numerous, between he and Michael Douglas who plays Liberace in the movie, and he says while laughing, “The scene where I’m behind him and going at him, we did that in one take.” “We do it. Cut. There’s a long pause. And then you just hear Steven go, “Well… I have no notes.”
“Behind the Candelabra” is slated to air on HBO on Sunday, May 26th.
