The Musketeers premiered on BBC last Sunday to a wide audience of nearly eight million viewers. This week the show will be introducing us to a new villain, played by the experienced actor Jason Flemyng. Flemyng recently spoke with Digital Spy to talk about his new upcoming role, his take on Doctor Who, and the new Star Wars film. When asked about his character in The Musketeers he said: “He's a real proper old-school villain. It was great fun. I don't have a mustache… well, it's an invisible one that I'm allowed to tweak occasionally! I loved it and all the boys I just fell in love with. Luke Pasqualino is amazing - I'm meant to be his enemy but I didn't know whether to smack him in the face or kiss him on the lips." He also gave praise to all of the previous incarnations of the musketeers noting his admiration for Roy Kinnear and slight disdain towards the Hollywood remake featuring Orlando Bloom and Nick Moran. Flemyng was questioned over his father, Gordon Flemyng, who directed Dr. Who spinoff films in the 60’s, and his interest in a role you might not expect. When [Christopher] Eccleston got Doctor Who, I phoned Wales immediately and said, 'Listen guys, I've got to speak to you about Doctor Who' and they're like, 'It's cast… you can't play Doctor Who' - I said, 'I'm not interested in playing Doctor Who but I need to be the noise of the Dalek ship as it takes off.' "My father was the noise of the Dalek ship in 1966 movie Dr Who and the Daleks in Technicolor so no-one else can do that noise except me," he said. "They were like, 'Um… the Daleks fly' and I went, 'That's the most f**king ridiculous thing I've ever heard' and I slammed the phone down. It's nonsense. Unless they bring back the Dalek ship that takes off with the noise, then Jason Flemyng is not interested in Doctor Who in any way!" The actor also may have other big roles in his future. After posting a picture online of himself with a script for the new Star Wars film, people online began buzzing about his role in the highly anticipated movie. He remained pretty tight lipped about the new film. He did offer this: "Can we just say that it was a slight misjudgment on the Flemyng behalf? Put it this way - I won't be spending next Christmas at the Lucas ranch. Some excrement definitely hit the electronic fan." And when asked if he enjoyed reading the script (you have to appreciate a little sneaky journalism) he said, “No comment. You cannot get me to talk about Star Wars - I will literally be killed. I've learnt my lesson!" The Musketeers airs Sunday’s at 9p.m. on BBC
