Jennifer Lopez Is Ready For Her ‘Second Act’

According to The Wrap, Jennifer Lopez is developing the new rom-com film, Second Act, with STXfilms and will star in and produce the movie.

J.Lo is heading back to the big screen — and returning to the rom-com. According to The Wrap, Jennifer Lopez is developing the new film, Second Act, with STXfilms and will star in and produce the movie. On Twitter, she shared the exciting news with fans:

Jennifer Lopez’s new role

In the film, Lopez will play an employee of a big chain store who seizes the chance to reinvent her life and show that “street smarts are as valuable as a college degree.” Peter Segal, who helmed the Drew Barrymore–Adam Sandler hit, 50 First Dates, is on board to direct.

Lopez is excited to start production and tell the story of a strong woman in a fun way. As she told The Wrap, “There are so many things I love about this project and script. People try to put women to sleep at a certain age. Second Act is a story that empowers the everywoman to do more, to be more, and not limit their dreams.”

It’s definitely a summer of living big dreams for J.Lo. In addition to shooting her two NBC shows, Shades of Blue and the new World of Dance, she’s also been sharing with fans sneak peeks into her whirlwind romance with former Yankee player Alex Rodriguez. The physically and sartorially blessed duo recently jetted off to Paris for a #baecation2017. One of their stops: lunch at the Louvre.

No release date or production time frame has been specified yet for Second Act, but Lopez is clearly enjoying her busy schedule these days. As she told Variety last month after taking on World of Dance, “I didn’t think I’d be doing that so soon, but at the end of the day, it’s about the quality of the project and what moves me as an artist, and this is what I wanted to do.”

As for #baecation2017? The summer is just getting started.
