Rumors are now circulating that Jeremy Renner who brought everyones favorite archer Hawkeye to the silver screen for the wildly successful 2012 summer blockbuster The Avengers may not be returning. Renner told Total Film last year that he was displeased with how his character was presented in the movie. He claims for the majority of the movie he’s not the character he signed on to play, due to being brainwashed by Loki. He felt limited in his emotional choices.
Sources are now saying that there is a chance that Renner could be recast for Avengers 2, due to be released in 2015. His comments have presumably not landed well with those at Marvel. Marvel has yet to release an official statement on this matter though rumors are circulating that Renner isn’t the only one whose contract is not secured. Mark Ruffalo told Digital Spy, that there is ‘no need to panic’. He said he has not heard anything. He added that actors are usually the last to hear about these kind of things.
Do you think Renner’s comments were out of line or do you agree? Should Marvel give him a second chance to play Hawkeye?
