It’s long since been said that Nashville is the music capital of America, home to some of the biggest names in the business and a genuine source of instrumental and lyrical inspiration for upcoming bands and artists. Such is definitely true for South Carolina native Jeremy Stinson, who first began jamming with his friends in high school. It was only while he was a student at Middle Tennessee State University however that he really caught the performing bug, playing keyboard for several bands before he decided to branch out on his own and pursue his passion professionally.
Music has also been a huge part in the lives of several of Jeremy’s family members; his grandfather was a jazz pianist and his great grandfather a country ragtime piano player, so it’s perhaps not that surprising to find that Jeremy has all but followed in their footsteps. The songs he now creates and shares with the world showcase his growing and impressive song-writing capabilities and thanks to lyrics that address moments and issues that so many can relate to, including heartbreak, his audience is steadily growing too.
Like many recent songs from his fellow artistic counterparts, Jeremy’s new single “Runnin’”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, was written and recorded during this ongoing Corona Virus crisis. Asked exactly how the song came to be, he explains:
“During the beginning stages of quarantine, I left Nashville to record some music in Charleston, South Carolina at Charleston Sound Studios. While recording several songs, I hit it off really well with the studio’s sound engineer, Michael Dalbello, who is also a DJ and producer. I brought up the idea of creating some pop songs with him. He loved the idea and I went to work writing.
Runnin’ started as a loop I made in my room. Just myself and my piano. Being the early stages of quarantine, I had time to reflect more on my life and past experiences. Thinking of past relationships – and relationships in a whole – led to the concept of someone always putting in more effort than the other person and striving towards the unattainable to make the relationship work.
After a rough loop of the song and some lyrics, I hopped in the studio with Michael and we created Runnin’. We had a blast with the creating process and had great musical chemistry, which ended in us making several more songs all around this theme.”
