In one of the most awkward encounters we have witnessed, Jerry Seinfeld denied Kesha a hug…not just once, not just twice, but three times. And it was caught on camera.
Even though Seinfeld is known for his unique humor, there was hint of a joke when he turned down the star.
Tommy McFly, Host of 94.7 Fresh FM’s The Tommy Show in Washington D.C., was mid-interview with Seinfeld when the encounter happened. Kesha approaches Seinfeld giddy with excitement. She announces who she is, followed by, “I love you so much. Can I give you a hug?” Her squeals quieted when the actor quickly responded with, “No thanks,” accompanied by a taken aback look. Kesha persisted though and said, “Please?” as she went into for another try and Seinfeld put his hands up in protest again repeating, “No thanks.” Just when we thought it could not get any worse, Kesha tries a third-time pleading, “A little one?” as she took another step towards him.
Seinfeld looks thoroughly uncomfortable at this time and steps back with a more stern, “Yeah, no thanks.” Kesha at this point looks stunned by the rejection and scurries away out of the camera.
As Seinfeld turns back to the camera, he begins to break out in laughter. McFly asks if he knew who that was who had just tried to hug him, wherein he replied, “I don’t know who that was!” McFly quickly explained who she was exactly and Seinfeld replied with, “Ok! Well, I wish her the best!”
There have been no previous encounters between Seinfeld and Kesha, and the world is speculating that he simply did not want to be hugged by a stranger while he was doing an interview.
The two were at The David Lynch Foundation’s National Night of Laughter and Song on Monday night. Watch the encounter below:
