The fans have indeed spoken, and they have decided that Jim Carrey needs to give the money he earned from Kick-Ass 2 to charity. Carrey said recently that he was not going to promote the film Kick- Ass 2 in light of the Sandy Hook shooting that took place last December.
Carrey took to his twitter with the following statement: “I cannot in good conscience support that level of violence.” Several celebrities and parents of victims have taken to their Twitter’s to discuss and comment on Carrey’s not so careful choice of words. Universal Pictures has not commented yet on Carrey’s decision and Kick- Ass co-creator Mark Millar said that he was “baffled” by the decision Carrey has made.
Allow me to take a moment here and express something: I don’t see how someone like Jim Carrey can say that he doesn’t support that amount of violence (when he had absolutely NO issue making the film in the first place) then turn around and take a paycheck from the production company. I understand that everyone needs to work and make money; BUT, if it was as BIG of a problem as he’s making it out to be, then giving the money to the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting would be the right thing to do, yes? Just my opinion.
Tell us your opinions now: what do you think Jim Carrey should do? Do you feel this could have been handled differently?
