So much news for the Whovians  to enjoy the last few days, from pictures of Matt Smith and David Tennant together, to new teaser posters, and casting news for the 50th anniversary special. For those of you who are fans of the BBC’s Gavin and Stacey, you’ll be thrilled to learn that Joanna Page has joined the cast for the anniversary special. Fans of Page were prematurely excited as it was rumored she would be joining the show back in 2010, but she sadly had to dispel those rumors at that time. She quipped, “I think I’ve got to be the only Welsh actress who has never been in Doctor Who so if someone would like me to be in Doctor Who I would love the part.”

Billie Piper and John Hurt have also been confirmed to star in the special as well. The 50th anniversary episode filming has begun this week, so there are sure to be set pictures and maybe a few spoilers coming our way soon. The special is being shot in 3D, is going to have a running time of 90 minutes, and is scheduled to have a worldwide limited release in theaters.

No official date has been given as of yet, but we know it is scheduled to air in August of this year. Until then, we’ll all just have to wait and wonder what Stephen Moffat has up his sleeves this time…For a little more insight as to what the special might hold, check out the video interviews from Digital Spy with Jenna Louise Coleman, Matt Smith, and the master himself, Stephen Moffat.
