A bit of controversy has arisen in Australia. It involves The Voice coach and Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, a hotel in Sydney, and some marijuana.
While filming for The Voice in Australia, a housekeeper from the Darling Hotel in Sydney found some marijuana in Joel’s hotel room. The police were called and responded to the hotel, and executed a search warrant of the room at 10:30 p.m.
They found a bit of weed.
The singer posted a statement on Tumblr: “Sunday while I was at work, a hotel employee found a small amount of marijuana in my hotel room. The police were called and responded. Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn’t cause too much drama for anyone.”
Now, there’s some good news and some bad news. Let’s start with the good news.
The cops didn’t charge Joel, so that’s good, but there’s also some bad news, the Darling Hotel has kicked Joel out.
A spokesperson for the Australian hotel came out and said that their company has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs, and that the rule will be strictly enforced, regardless of celebrity status.
