After being absent from the stage due to throat issues, John Mayer has described being able to perform again as “the greatest gift” as he announces a tour spanning North and South America this summer. Mayer will play 45 dates in 40 cities in support of his 2012 album ‘Born And Raised.’ Former American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is set to perform as a support act.

Talking to Billboard about his recovery following surgery on a throat granuloma, Mayer said “My dreams were in escrow, but when I found out this thing in my throat had receded, the most exciting thing for me was having a second chance at a new life.
