Having already taken on the comic book world as Thanos in numerous blockbusters throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Josh Brolin will once again play a comic book character, this time as Cable in Deadpool 2.
Who would be playing the role of Cable has been the subject of much debate in the fandom world, with names like Michael Shannon, Brad Pitt, Russel Crowe and David Harbour rumored to be lined up for the role. Brolin will not only play Cable in the upcoming Deadpool film, but will go on with the role in X-Force and other subsequent films in Fox’s comic book universe for the foreseeable future.
It’s not unreasonable to think that we’ll be getting plenty of fourth wall breaks about Brolin’s dual role in the comic book world. While Fox and Marvel’s movie universes don’t exist in the same timeline, Deadpool himself has already poked fun at Ryan Reynold’s past brush with the realm of superhero’s in DC’s Green Lantern movie. The cast will also include Zazie Beetz from Atlanta as Domino, while David Leitch coming on as director. Production is expected to start on the film in Vancouver this coming June.
Brolin, who has been nominated for an Oscar for his role in Milk, will be in Granite Mountain, heading to theaters September 22. Solado, where he will star alongside Benicio Del Toro, will also hit theaters very soon. We also can’t forget his previous experience in the world of comic book films, as he previously starred in Jonah Hex. And of course, we can’t forget Thanos finally making his big move in the next Avengers movie, coming in 2018!
