Following the massive success of Whedon’s last directorial effort (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble), I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to seeing his adaptation of a William Shakespeare classic. The first theatrical trailer of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ has now been released, and you can view it here:

Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ centres around two pairs of lovers (Benedick and Beatrice, and Hero and Claudio) and their different takes on romance.

The modern film features Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker in the popular roles of Benedick and Beatrice (previously played by David Tennant and Catherine Tate respectively), as well as a supporting cast full of Whedon alums, including Nathan Fillon (Firefly) and Clark Gregg (The Avengers).

Having been shot over 12 days at Whedon’s Santa Monica home in 2011, during ‘The Avengers’ post-production period, the retelling of this Shakespearian classic comedy uses, for the most part, the original text, despite the updated contemporary setting.

The film premiered at TIFF 2012, and subsequently in the UK at the Glasgow Film Festival last month, receiving nearly all positive reviews on both instances.

‘Much Ado About Nothing’ will debut in US cinemas on 21st June, and in the UK on 14th June.
