Jump Into the World of History Channel’s Vikings With Vikings VR

Fans of the History Channel’s Vikings can now get an immersive experience in the life of a vikings thanks to a free virtual reality app.

Vikings returned to our screens on November 29, bringing us back to a world of conquering and bloodshed. But have you ever wanted an insider’s look at what the world behind the History Channel’s hit show is really like? Well, prepare to get sucked in, as the Vikings VR experience is now available.

Vikings VR is a combination of a behind the scenes sneak peek and an immersive experience. Not only do you get a look at scenes from the upcoming season, you also get to go behind the scenes of filming and—in what I thought was the most effective part of the experience—get to have a bit of a chat with the Seer. As someone with no previous VR experience, I can say that I nearly fell off my own bed trying to back away from him because it felt that creepy having him right there in front of me.

Of course, as a free product, we don’t necessarily get to see everything we’d like. The bonus scenes and previews are incredibly short, and you’ll probably make your way through the entire experience very quickly. I imagine having an app that truly gave you a chance to explore the world of Vikings would come at a cost—though I think it would be worth it if you were a fan seriously interested in all the world building of the show.

Still, for a free product, Vikings VR is definitely worth the download for fans. Check it out if you get the chance.
