Juna N Joey Rework A Robert Palmer Classic With The Video For “Addicted To Blood”

“..we just tried to pay homage to the iconic video by Robert Palmer with a fun holiday twist.”

Over the years, dozens of classic songs have been reworked and re-imagined by bands and artists across all genres and for all sorts of reasons. Now, sibling duo Juna N Joey, who were recently named runners up for Nickelodeon’s America’s Most Musical Family, can add their name to that list, as, especially for the Halloween season, they’ve put their own twist on the Robert Palmer classic “Addicted To Love” having renamed it “Addicted To Blood”, and PopWrapped are delighted to premiere its video.

Asked as to why the pair chose to re-work this song in particular, Joey says: “I knew “Addicted To Love” because our Dad is a hard core rocker. My manager has always said I would make a good Dracula since I have natural widows peak like Elvis’ hair, so we decided to do a Halloween themed version of the song with “Addicted to Blood”. At first it was so hard to duplicate Robert Palmer’s voice because of his icon raspy cigarette smoking voice and I don’t smoke so I had to figure that out on my own. So we watched the video over and over again – till we gained a true appreciation of this man and his iconic voice/video.”

Juna adds of the creative and production process: “In between school and other recording projects, I actually engineered this song myself using Pro-Tools, which I recently learned how to use. It was a very hard process, I had to edit the beginning because it was so long and I knew no one would want that long of an intro nowadays. The video itself was really fun to make, but it was harder than you would think trying to keep a straight non expressive face, I was holding back laughing the whole time. Joey did such a great job of being a vampire in the video it was cracking me up. Our friend Angelina is an actress and was perfect for the roll – we just tried to pay homage to the iconic video by Robert Palmer with a fun holiday twist.”

As for the homage they pay to Robert and what they want those who watch the video to take from it, Joey explains: “We hope that we could have a fraction of Robert’s success – we love the Brits – they know and appreciate real music. I couldn’t believe the stats that video had like 63 million views at time when there was no internet platforms; I realized only then the significance of what we had created. I also hear it all time now on the radio, even more than before when in the car listen to the radio with my dad. So, I hope everyone enjoys our homage to one of the greats and enjoy the holiday also – we have a candy giveaway and costume contest so this will be fun in a time where we could all use a little break.”

Regarding the candy giveaway, Juna says the pair wanted to do something fun given that trick or treat likely won’t happen for millions this year as a result of the Corona Virus pandemic. “My Mom’s friend has a specialty candy store and we thought she could make it special for a fan,” she explains. “I wish we could send one to all our fans, and I cannot wait to see all the inventive awesome costumes for our contest.
