Despite being more known for his upbeat tunes including “Baby”, Justin Bieber proved he is far more than a one trick pony last night when he went up against Deion Sanders, the former baseball and football player on Lip Sync Battle.
Last month, he pleaded guilty to charges of assault and careless driving after an incident in Ontario last August, but last nights’ performance of the Fergie hit “Big Girls Don’t Cry” proved there’s still plenty of positive points to the singer, notably that, no matter what his critics might think, he sure knows how to deliver a power-house, heartfelt performance when he needs or wants to, even if his caress of Sanders’ face was a little OTT.
Of course, some might argue that the battle was unfair on Sanders, as Bieber has been performing to huge crowds, singing and dancing for years, while the career of his opponent for the evening focused more on thrilling the masses in a different way – i.e. by hitting runs and taking charge on the pitch.
Nevertheless, both contenders delivered great performances, much to the delight of their audience, and who knows, Sanders might just have found a new love of singing as a result.
