Kae Sera Unveils Her Stunning New Single “The Moon”

“I hope it helps people accept the fact that they will never fully understand the reason why an ex contacts them…”

Following the release of her debut track “Dames Jean”, East London artist Kae Sera is drawing on her lunary powers for her unique second single “The Moon”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere. Blending modern-day electro-pop with sounds from the ’50s and ’60s, Kae Sera makes alluring soundscapes honing on her influences and tastes. The songwriter captivates listeners with storytelling lyrics and songs showcasing her vivid imagination combined with raw, real-life experiences.

“The Moon” has an interesting combination of mixed genre flushed production. The beat carries a tropical touch with a muted drum, reminiscent of a garage flow, enriched in a hazy moon glaze. The track enters with a lullaby-esque soundscape as she sings, “my words are expensive / and they’re not for sale”. With oscillating synths and glassy shimmers of electro chimes, the production totally encapsulates the energy and imagery of the moon, not to mention the calming, haunting melodies from the artist.

The track touches on receiving late-night messages when in the light of the moon. The heartbreak-heavy song speaks about post-breakup communication and the haziness of emotions and confusion – the push and pull of wanting and resisting messaging is washed in a moonlit waterfall of frustration and pain. Hoping to remind people to stay present and keep your eyes on the sunny daylight of the future, Kae shares: “I hope it helps people accept the fact that they will never fully understand the reason why an ex contacts them, but know that you can get a sense of closure from recognising the patterns of messages playing out.”
