Producers of BBC One’s The Voice
have announced the final judge
who will replace the departed Danny O’Donoghue.
Ricky Wilson, lead singer of British band The Kaiser Chiefs,
will be completing the judging line up with other new arrival, Kylie Minogue, and returning judges Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am.
The Kaiser Chiefs have had a history of chart success with hits such as “I Predict A Riot” and "Every Day I Love You Less And Less" and topped the UK chart with “Ruby”. The band have been quiet for the last few years, however they were one of the acts who performed at last year’s London Olympics closing ceremony.
When asked about his decision to join the panel, the singer replied; "Who doesn't want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue? I spent last winter yelling at The Voice, and both Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am were total superstars. I'm just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan!"
This is not the first time that Ricky has appeared on the BBC, he has hosted the music quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks
and had appeared on arts show, The Culture Show
I think this is a good decision on the part of BBC bosses, as Wilson is direct without being nasty, however he does have a cheeky side as well. BBC entertainment commissioning controller Mark Linsey is just as excited by this addition.
"Ricky is one of the U.K. music scene’s great frontmen. He knows all about performance and will complement the rest of the coaching lineup perfectly."
Wilson’s inclusion on the panel, now means that The Voice
is ready to rock and roll, as earlier this week it was announced
that Emma Willis and Marvin Humes will be replacing Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates as the show’s presenters.
I for one think this is a good choice for Danny’s replacement and let’s hope the viewers tune in to give the new judging line up a chance.
