Country newcomer Kasey Tyndall blends hard rock and country influences into one sound. The songstress’ new single, “Jesus and Joan Jett,” is out today and reveals all about her.
The soundtrack to Tyndall’s story is “Jesus and Joan Jett.”
It was originally written in 2015 and its auditory landscape is explosive. The album combines modern hard-rock with country sounds that are evident in the first few notes, accompanied by certain accents that are reminiscent of the ’80s and ’90s.
The grit-laced track is one of Tyndall’s favorite songs, as its lyricism perfectly reflects her persona. The singer-songwriter freely expresses herself and does not hold back when it comes to being the best of both worlds.
With writing by Tyndall, Evan Coffman, and Greylan James, and production by Derek Wells, “Jesus and Joan Jett” has always been a fan favorite.
“I always ask myself two questions when faced with problems in life. Number one and most importantly: what would Jesus do, and second, what would Joan Jett do? Add that up and I get my solution. That’s where the song came from,” shares Tyndall. “Ever since I started playing it live, my fans have been singing every word. I’m so glad I can finally give it to them. Joan Jett has always been a hero of mine and I’m so glad I get to pay tribute to her and all that she has done for music.”
Believe it or not, Joan Jett herself has heard the song and enjoyed it. The rockstar invited Tyndall out to one of her shows in Atlanta.
She is heading back out on the road with country music artist Drake White on the Optimistic Tour this spring.
