Deck the halls with boughs of… oh. I guess it’s still too early for that isn’t it? But just by a few months! And to help us get into the early Christmas spirit is Welsh mezzo-soprano singer Katherine Jenkins, who recently announced a special holiday tour this December! Jenkins will perform beloved and fun holiday songs such as, “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Deck the Halls,” and “Santa Baby.” The London Concert Orchestra will be performing under the baton of Anthony Inglis, one of the most popular conductors of the UK, and will feature special guest and Australian tenor Mark Vincent.
Most recently we heard of Katherine Jenkins making her television series debut on the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) Songs of Praise (1961-) a few months ago, so she is definitely keeping herself busy. This will not be her first Christmas concert appearance however; besides performing some of these seasonal songs over the last few years, back in 2009 she performed a duet entitled, “I Believe,” with world-renowned opera/pop singer Andrea Bocelli at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, a concert promoting Bocelli’s first Christmas album, “My Christmas.”
If you haven’t heard of Katherine Jenkins, which we hope you have, here’s a brief bio from Ents 24 that might give you an idea of her talents and popularity:
“Brought up in Neath, South Wales, by the time Katherine was seven her interest in pop music had been superseded by classical music. She started taking piano lessons and joined her local church choir. The record-breaking multi-platinum selling mezzo-soprano is best known from her unique interpretations of popular songs, operatic arias and hymns. Katherine is also known for her long standing work with the British Forces Foundation, for which she is a trustee, that has led to her being referred to as the Forces Sweetheart.”
I mean, she’s this writer’s favorite female singer for a reason.
