The cute one’s back! With Cade dead, it appears that a familiar face is now in charge of hell. We all saw Katherine Pierce get dragged away to hell when she died back in Season 5. It’s the final season of The Vampire Diaries, and, when it was confirmed that Nina Dobrev was returning, we hoped that meant our favorite doppelganger would be returning as well. But all anyone talked about was Elena, not Katherine.

Until last night.

When the psychic blast blew Damon back into his body (we knew he wouldn’t really be dead, even if you ignored the promo featuring Damon that ran during the show), there was also the chance that Katherine got blown out of hell. That didn’t happen.

However, Kai gleefully revealed to Damon and Bonnie that someone new was in charge of hell now that Cade is dead. But not just anyone. The only person worse than Cade. Someone that knows all their weak spots and is desperate for revenge. To borrow Kai’s words, “The myth, the legend, the baddest bitch of all.”

Damon and Bonnie were horrified to hear the news, but Katherine fans are ecstatic about her return.

If there’s one thing Katherine loves, it’s torturing Elena. If there’s another thing she loves, it’s Stefan Salvatore, and she’s not going to stand on the sidelines while he marries Caroline. She’s going to be even more pissed when she learns that Caroline is wearing her necklace. Nope, not that one that used to belong to Rebekah that ended up as Elena’s, but a different one. We’ll talk another time about Stefan hanging onto all of Katherine’s jewelry but claiming he never loved her.

We knew Katherine was a survivor and going to hell wouldn’t be the end of her story. But she’s running hell, and that is so much better than I could’ve imagined. I was always disappointed that Katherine and Kai never got to cause trouble together, but it seems like they know each other. When she’s not wreaking havoc on Mystic Falls and trying to steal the groom, hopefully she rescues Kai from his prison world. I’m sure those two would have the so much fun together. Mainly because they hate the same people.
