It’s a bird, it’s a plane…no, it’s Quicksilver.
Kick Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has met with the Marvel team and Avengers director, Joss Whedon, in talks of joining the cast of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. The 23 year old actor would be coming in as Quicksilver/Pietro Maximoff (in the comic book world he is son of X-Men villain, Magneto and brother to twin sister Scarlet Witch and half-sister Polaris).
Quicksilver play a role in both the upcoming Avengers and X-Men sequels, with Evan Peters (American Horror Story) playing the part for X-Men. Saoirse Ronan recently denied rumors that she would be taking on the role of Scarlet for Avengers, and there have been no talks of seeing this character in X-Men.
Taylor-Johnson seems to have already done his homework on the role (that has yet to be finalized) telling MTV a little Quick-history, “"I think when it comes around and you’re asking about ‘Avengers 2’ and Quicksilver and things like that, the thing is to think about that he’s an abandoned child," explains Taylor-Johnson. "Him and his sister [the Scarlet Witch] are abandoned and they live in Eastern Europe. There’s more character aspects that I’m interested in than the power aspect."
After his meeting with Whedon and Marvel, he said he felt honored to be approached for the role and said joining the franchise would be “interesting.”
Well, what’s more interesting will be seeing two different actors, in separate franchises, playing the same character based on the same material.
Who do you think will play the role better?
