It was going to happen eventually, but that doesn’t mean anyone’s happy about it. Kobe Bryant, the man who has been holding the LA Lakers franchise together for their whole horrendous NBA season, has been forced to call it quits. While his injury may not be as gruesome as Kevin Ware’s was last month, the effects are probably infinitely worse. Bryant, who has played for the NBA for almost two decades with five championships under his belt, might end up having to call it quits not just for the season, but for his career as a whole.
Almost immediately after suffering what is likely a devastating Achilles’ tendon inury Bryant took to his Facebook account to vent his (quite understandable) frustrations: ”Now I’m supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that?? I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that was. Maybe this is how my book ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me…Then again maybe not.”
But Bryant was able to take a step back and come at things with a level head as well: “Forgive my Venting but what’s the purpose of social media if I won’t bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles (sic). Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.”
Something tells us we have not seen the last of living basketball legend Kobe Bryant.
