News is starting to filter out about the last moments of Kris Kross rapper, Chris Kelly and there’s been much speculation on his cause of death. In the past few hours, People is reporting that, according to an Atlanta police report, Kelly was taken home by his mother the night before his death after “consuming a combination of cocaine and heroin”.
The police report allegedly states that Kelly, 34, was at home and felt nauseous and proceeded to pass out on Wednesday afternoon at which time his mother, Donna Kelly Pratte called 911. On arrival, paramedics found Kelly unresponsive on the living room couch. After CPR failed to revive him, he was transported to hospital where he was official pronounced dead.
Kelly’s uncle has apparently come forward and told police that the rapper “had an extensive history of drug abuse” and that his mother has had to step in and help him on more than one occasion.
While it is unknown the extent of his drug taking, according to the report, his mother “had brought Kelly home to recover from his drug use and had done this several times in the past”.
No official cause of death has been released though the autopsy has been competed. The results of toxicology tests are still pending.
In a joint statement with Kris Kross’s former record label, So So Def, Pratte stated that her son was “the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party… Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.”
