In February of last year, Kristen Bell told The Advocate that she wouldn’t marry until her LGBTQ friends were granted the same luxury. The House of Lies actress followed in the footsteps of many other actors and actresses in Hollywood who took a similar stance.
Bell’s friendship with Heroes and Star Trek star Zachary Quinto was one of the reasons for her refusal to marry. She, and fiancé Dax Shepard, also spoke about how gay marriage was important to the both of them and how it didn’t “feel appropriate” marrying when others couldn’t.
Since then, the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 were deemed unconstitutional, and Bell and Shepard are excited to be able to make their ‘big, gay, marriage’ come to life.
Just don’t expect some extravaganza on the front page of People a la Justin Timberlake or other big stars.
Bell has gone on record saying that a big wedding or a wedding at all isn’t what she and Shepard are all about. “I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper.” However, they’re ready to get married any day, so be on the look-out for excited post-marriage tweets between the adorable couple.
The two actors welcomed daughter Lincoln Bell in March.
