Former t.A.T.u. singer Julia Volkova has recently come under fire for some terrible homophobic remarks against gay men.
Lena Katina, the other half of the Russian vocal group, has responded to the remarks on her Facebook page:
“Hey, all! I am seeing some comments lately regarding my position about LGBT and my religion. I can say one thing: God is teaching us to live in love, to be tolerant and not to judge other people! And I do so! Love is love and it is a wonderful feeling! I think everybody should be free to love who they love and be with who they want to spend their life with! Xoxo”
t.A.T.u., known for their provocative lesbian imagery, split earlier this year. They’ve been labeled the “most successful Russian musical export of all time”.
“People will remember us for great songs, being free, taking life as it is and not being afraid of anything. [There were] provocative images of two girls kissing each other, but the second thing was the really great music,” Katina told Billboard in 2011.
