Anyone who’s checked out Leonardo DiCaprio’s IMDB page in the last five years has seen that he has plenty to keep himself busy for the next few years. However, Deadline has confirmed that one more project can be added to that list: Rasputin.
Yes, that Rasputin.
Warner Bros. has bought the pitch for Rasputin, which will be written by Jason Hall. It may seem like the story of Rasputin has been told to death, but that doesn’t seem to have stopped DiCaprio from signing up for this one.
Deadline says “there were new elements here unearthed by Hall that sparked DiCaprio’s interest and gave psychological depth to the so called “mad monk.” To his enemies, he was a charlatan who prolifically bedded women, possibly including the Tsar’s wife. DiCaprio liked the complicated elements of a child who lost the better part of himself when his brother died, and was capable of kindness but also a ruthlessness.”
Yes, that sounds like our Leo – always up for a challenging biographical role.
As of right now the project is more or less in the pre-pre-production stage, given the fact that there isn’t even a script yet. Keep an eye on PopWrapped for more news on the project as it surfaces!
