J.K. Rowling knows what she wants for her birthday; and you can help!

The Harry Potter author has a birthday coming up on July 31, and fans across the globe are joining together to give her a big present by donating towards her charity, Lumos.

Lumos is a charity which was set up and is also chaired by Rowling herself. The charity looks at protecting children and providing solutions to those in need of help. Around 8 million children are institutionalized and taken away from their families because of a number of reasons including disabilities, financial state and because they are of an ethnic minority. Above all the charity aims to end the institutionalization of children globally.

According to sources, last year fans started up a campaign called “Light Up Jo’s Birthday” and together raised over $1,500 for the charity. Rowling gratefully responded to the generosity of fans saying it was, “the best birthday present I’ve ever received”. Last year, the funds that were raised went to help make a school accessible for disabled children, “allowing them to stay at home with their families and not move to an institution.”

If giving to such a great charity wasn’t worth it enough, anyone who donates will be entered into a drawing for some really great prizes!

Everyone who gives to the cause will be entered into a prize draw to receive some fantastic prizes, which include;
