It’s been a year since Max Page used the Force to pull on our heartstrings in the 2012 Volkswagen Super Bowl Commercial. Since then, the eight year-old had to undergo open-heart surgery.

Now, the young boy is using his “powers” to do some good for kids in hospitals. He’s a full-throttle kid who loves doing charity work,” said his mom Jennifer Page. “[He’s] making appearances in hospitals nationwide, raising funds and cheering up other kids.”

Max, who has had eight surgeries in his young life, serves as junior ambassador for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and has raised more than $50,000 for kids without health care insurance.

“I love being able to help kids who are less fortunate,” Max said. “It’s all about giving back.”

Max, who was born with a congenital heart defect and had a pacemaker implanted when he was just three months old, refuses to let his condition slow him down.

On June 19th, he and his family will travel to Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress on Family Advocacy Day to raise awareness for children’s hospitals nationwide.
