You know when a movie trailer comes out, one you weren't expecting or didn't know about, and it completely blows you away? Not a big franchise blockbuster, but something with a unique feel? You watch it and you're already sold and it looks like an awesome time at the movies? Yeah, that's the case with Logan Lucky (2017), with an all-star, incredible cast including Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Girls TV series (2012-)), Channing Tatum (Dear John (2010), 21 Jump Street (2012)), Daniel Craig (Skyfall (2012), The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo (2011)), Katherine Waterston (Alien: Covenant (2017), Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (2016)) and Katie Holmes (Batman Begins (2005), The Giver (2014)).
Tatum plays Jimmy Logan and Driver plays one-armed Clyde Logan, two brothers who decide to steal a large sum of money during a NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The original trailer was released a little over a month ago, which was outstanding, but the new UK trailer recently dropped and we want people who don't know about this movie to know about it!
Logan Lucky has an Ocean's 11 feel
How did this movie go under the radar until the trailer came out? It has a delightful, off the charts cast, and it is being directed by none other than Steven Soderbergh, who, as the trailer lets us know, brought us such films as the Ocean's trilogy (2001-07), The Informant (2009), Contagion (2011), and Magic Mike (2012). We haven't seen a feature film from him in over four years (Side Effects (2013)). This trailer certainly has an Ocean's 11 flavor to it, with the heist and cast camaraderie oozing from the trailer's sizzle reel.
Daniel Craig, Mr. Bond himself, is almost unrecognizable here as hired con man Joe Bang, talking in a southern, American accent and having a looser, playful aura about him. It will be interesting to see him play against type compared to his role as the sophisticated 007 last seen in Spectre (2015).
Having the film set at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina is also the best thing ever, because not only is it a rare, but it just adds to the great summer feel already going for it.
Often August rolls around and there aren't many new and exciting films to see in theaters, other than movies still showing from July. Not many Augusts come around with a worthwhile movie, but this is one you should definitely not miss.
Logan Lucky will star Adam Driver, Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Riley Keough, Katherine Waterston, Hilary Swank, Sebastian Stan, Seth MacFarlane, and Katie Holmes, and races into theaters next month on August 18, 2017.
