Romeo and Juliet were the perfect example of unrequited love, but another couple just took their place.

According to a New York Daily News article, FBI agent Daniela Green and ISIS terrorist Denis Cuspert were involved in a romantic relationship. Green was supposed to investigate the member, but she fell in love with the former rapper. “The 38-year-old Green – who was still married to an American at the time of her wild dash overseas – said she gave in to temptation and returned to the Middle East in 2014 to marry a German rapper who was also a spokesman for the terrorist group,” the article states. Green was a translator for the FBI, so one of her job’s facets was to locate Cuspert. However, she deviated from her task at hand. She soon realized that she had made a huge mistake.

“I was weak and didn’t know how to handle anything anymore. I really made a mess of things this time,” she admitted via email. The American had more than wedding bells on her mind; she was ready to join ISIS herself. However, she snapped out of it and came to her senses. In 2014, she traveled back to the United States to face hard time.

She spent two years in prison.

“Prosecutors cited her cooperation and swift admission of guilt as the reasons they pushed for a comparatively light sentence,” the article states. While she spent a couple of years behind bars, the woman was eventually released in 2016. She got lucky. Her ex faced a harsher form of punishment: death. According to The New York Times, the man was blown up by an airstrike. “I can confirm that an Oct. 16 airstrike near Raqqah killed Denis Cuspert,” a correspondent for the Defense Department says.

He had committed several atrocities, so who knows why Green was attracted to him. Maybe she liked him because of his 2006 performance with DMX?
