It’s so hypnotic. It’s so erotic. This feeling can’t be beat.

The Queen of Pop’s MDNA Tour celebrates its one year anniversary today! The beat and the feeling went on and on—going on to become Billboard Magazine’s top grossing concert by a solo or female artist this year.

More than 33,000 tickets were sold out months before its opening night concert at Tel Aviv Ramat Gan Stadium on May 31, 2012. Her first show in Abu Dhabi had fans lining up 24 hours before its sale and all 22,000 tickets were sold out in record-breaking one hour, prompting the promoter to add a second date, and that too was sold out within a week.  Back in the U.S., Yankee Stadium in New York sold out all 60,000 tickets in 20 minutes, prompting Live Nation to add a second date. Madonna also sold out more than 100,000 tickets in two days for three shows in Brazil.

All told, MDNA Tour’s 88-date run became the top grossing tour of 2012 with an audience of 2,212,345 in attendance, $305 million in sales, and became the tenth highest grossing tour of all time as well as the second highest grossing tour of all time for a female artist. It is second only to Madonna’s own Sticky and Sweet Tour. Yes, you read it right—the Queen of Pop broke the record for occupying the top two highest grossing female tours of all time!

The LA Times broke down the figures by the numbers from this ultra-massive tour, which is staggering to say the least.

The Madonna MDNA concert special will air on EPIX TV on June 22 at 8:00pm EST documenting the show from American Airlines Arena in Miami.  The pop diva will also make an appearance along with Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez at this weekend’s Sound of Change Live benefit concert in London to raise awareness and funds supporting education, health and justice for women and girls around the world.
