Make-Up Artist Turns People Into Comic Characters

Lianne Moseley is an incredibly talented make-up artist who transforms everyday people into amazing comic book creations using nothing more than brushes.

Lianne Moseley is an incredibly talented make-up artist. The 25 year old woman is from Calgary, and used to work as a freelance make-up artist, primarily focusing on brides and models. Now she transforms her friends and family into incredibly realistic-looking superheroes and other comic characters using nothing more than water-based make-up and self-taught talent. Moseley also works with cosplayers, and recently worked Where Calgary magazine.

Moseley was inspired by artist Argenis Pinal, who posted photos of himself painted as comic book characters on Instagram. She said it “blew [her] mind” and she knew she had to try it immediately. Moseley had also recently finished the first season of the popular show Archer, and wanted to try her hand at the show’s main character, Sterling Archer. Thankfully, Moseley had a friend who was willing to be a test subject, and she was “thrilled” with the result. In fact, Pinal himself even “liked” her work.

The process can take several hours, depending on the complexity of the character Moseley is painting. In some cases, she’ll extend the design from the face to a full-body work of art. She uses a brand of water-based make-up called Aquacolor to give her work a classic comic-book look.

Moseley’s passion for comic books goes back to childhood, when says she’d spend “hours sketching Sailor Moon”, reading comic books, and watching X-Men cartoons. Eventually, she’d like to work on feature films.

Check out a few of Moseley’s amazing creations below, and follow her on Instagram and Facebook to see even more.
