When it comes to the magnificent Mariah Carey, the last thing you’d expect to hear is that the pop diva trading her diamonds and pearls to work in a field picking cotton. That’s exactly what the “Beautiful” singer will be doing in her role in the upcoming flick The Butler.
Mimi plays a slave, Hattie Pearl, alongside an unbelievable star-studded cast including Terrence Howard, Oprah Winfrey, Melissa Leo, Robin Williams and Jane Fonda. The film set to release in August. The Butler follows the life of Cecil Gaines the man who served eight presidents as the White House’s head butler.
This is Mariah’s first big screen role since playing the social worker in the 2009 Academy Award winning, Precious. Although she did not win an award, she did receive high praise from critics and we are looking forward to another gritty performance from the actress that may even land her back at the Oscar’s.
