Mark Hammil Gets A Hollywood Star And William Shatner Takes A Friendly Dig

Star Wars’ Mark Hamill finally gets a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame! And Star Trek’s William Shatner couldn’t help but take a friendly dig.

Star Wars'  Mark Hamill is finally getting a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame! He will receive the 2,630th star in the iconic attraction, and the ceremony will be held at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the El Capitan theater on March 8. Star Wars creator George Lucas and Hammil's co-star Harrison Ford will be in attendance.

Fans of the science fiction franchise is of course overjoyed with the news but it seems that the star of a rival sci-fi franchise has something to say about the honor. William Shatner who originally played Captain Kirk in the Star Trek television series and subsequent feature films took a friendly jab at Hamill and wrote on twitter "Congratulations! BTW ask for a star on the south side of the street. I’m on the north side and don’t want to devalue the neighborhood.".

Hamill for his part replied "Thanks, Bill. It wouldn't be as special without a classic Shatner-burn from you! Live Long, But Get Lost" he wrote alluding to a famous Star Trek catch phrase.

It's all just friendly banter between friends of course, and despite the nerd battles happening all the time between the two franchises there is always relative peace in the galaxy. Although Hamill did reserve one subtle burn for a certain person who recieved a star for one "crappy reality show". Allegedly there is speculation that he may be referring to President Trump ( a favorite target of his in social media), but who really knows?

Well regardless, Mark Hammil you deserved this honor and it has been a long time coming, congratulations!
