Marvel’s Latest Venture Storms London’s Millennium Bridge

So this past weekend Marvel closed off London’s Millenium Bridge to shoot some scenes for their upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy.  Non-Brits probably know this particular landmark from its appearance in the Harry Potter film franchise, being swarmed by Death Eaters.

The director, James Gunn, has the story set as a battle-jeopardy which includes Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana and Glenn Close.  The movie is filming at UK Shepperton Studios and has a set release for Summer 2014.

What’s it about? We know most people are probably completely unfamiliar with this lesser-known Marvel franchise, so here it is: The movie is about a jet captain that goes by the name of Peter Quill, who has to bring together a lineup of aliens – these are the good guys – including Gamora (a green alien assassin played by Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (an incredibly strong and powerful being played by former pro-wrestler Dave Bautista), Groot (a huge alien plant monster reportedly being played by Vin Diesel), and Rocket Racoon (an anthropomorphic space raccoon warrior, actor TBA) – to call off these threats to the galaxy.

The actor Lee Pace, who is known for recently playing Thranduil in The Hobbit, will be starring as  one of the villains: Ronan The Accuser. Meanwhile Benicio Del Toro will star as The Collector and Doctor Who darling Karen Gillan will be Nebula.

Some other familiar names that are set to star in this movie include Glenn Close, Peter Serafinowicz, John C. Reilly, and Michael Rooker.
