Whilst the Glee world has been left heartbroken and shell shocked following the announcement of the sudden death of Cory Monteith, fellow Glee star Matthew Morrison paid his own tribute to the star.

Morrison who was performing at New York’s 54 Below, reportedly told the assembled crowd, “We lost a great young man too soon.  Cory was a beautiful person.” He went on to tell the crowd, “You came out to see a show; I came out to do one, so let’s honour Cory with this performance.”

Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuster in the hit Fox dramedy, sang “What I Did for Love” from A Chorus Line in memory of his friend and co star. A source close to Matthew said, “He was very emotional on stage. It was difficult for him to get up to perform, but he did not want to disappoint anyone.”

Although I doubt any true fans of Matthew would have had an issue had he chosen to cancel the concert, it shows a dedication to his art and his fans that he chose to carry on. It is also rather fitting that the star who plays the teacher in the show was one of the first of the core stars to pay tribute to Cory.
