Two moms, one family.
Working parents, busy kids, and the challenges they face. Sounds like the recipe for every other family drama, right? Not so much. The Fosters will be the first family drama to feature two moms. Combining both biological and adopted children, the show will detail the difficulties that arise when they adopt their latest addition Callie.
With executive producer Jennifer Lopez helping breathe life into series, ABC Family will add the show to their line-up with it premiering this summer. ABC Family President Michael Riley released a statement proclaiming ”ABC Family is synonymous with groundbreaking storytelling and iconic characters. These new shows will bring the same depth, heart, close relationships and authenticity that our viewers have come to expect and, will pair nicely with our already established pop culture hits.”
Teri Palo (best known for her roles in the Meet the Parents franchise) will star as Stef Foster, while Sherri Saum (Gossip Girl, In Treatment, Rescue Me) will play her wife Lena Foster. Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly Place), Ceirra Ramirez (Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) will play Jesus and Mariana Foster. Brad Bredeweg (Fly Girls) and Peter Paige (Queer as Folk) are the series creators and will serve as writers and join Jennifer Lopez as executive producers. Production begins in the spring.
