If you have to pick an award winning actress to admire, Kathy Bates is high on many peoples’ list.
We got to attend the 2015 Golden Globes this year, and we had an amazing moment with funny lady and Emmy winner Melissa McCarthy. You are so nervous when you meet someone famous. They jump right off the screen into your face. I could not get the camera to load up on my stupid Droid phone.
Larry said, “Come on, Gary!” then Melissa jumped in with, “Geez Gary. Come on, Gary! God, Gary.”
I was mortified, but she laughed until I got the phone up. She posed for the pic, gave a big hug, and off she went.
Up next for Melissa, Spy and the Ghostbusters remake!
Walking up the red carpet after the ceremony had started, the shuttle carts are busy driving celebs from one party to another across the Beverly Hilton property that hosts the event. At least 5 afterparties are set on location each year, so the celebrities walk out of the grand ballroom and right into a night of mingling and A-list fun.
Our eyes could not believe it as Kathy Bates shuttled up beside us, and her cart stopped. She did a twin take, and we said, “Kathy, we love you so much.” We kindly asked if we could take a photo. She said, “Absolutely.”
You can’t write what happened next. As we posed for the photo, a producer from Fear Factor and Wipeout walked by. He shouted, “It’s the Lane Twins, my Fear Factor and Wipeout WINNERS!” After the photo, Kathy said, “You guys were on those shows. I love those shows, they are my guilty pleasure. Now i need a picture!” But her companion’s camera was dead.
Then she said, “Well, you tweet me the pic and I will retweet you,” as she walked away. Never dreamed I would have Twitter talk with Oscar winner Kathy Bates. Look for her on American Horror Story: Hotel in October on FX.
Being small town boys living out Hollywood dreams, we love a good celebrity sighting. Especially when it’s the people you truly admire.
Until next time, thanks from the Lane Twins.
