Ever considered becoming a musician? Well… there are a few things you definitely should NOT do, and in the past few weeks, Michelle Shocked has probably done them all. As you might have read here, last week the American singer went on an anti-gay rant at a venue in San Francisco. Soon after, the management of several venues she was to perform at later on decided to cancel her shows, because they did not welcome a homophobic artist.
That is why yesterday, Michelle decided to protest by showing up at one of those cancelled gigs in Santa Cruz, California. She wore an all-white suit (which might or might be associated with another group of “activists” against equality) and had her mouth taped with the words “Silenced by Fear.” In this outfit, she went on to play on an acoustic guitar and when confronted by the managers of the venue, she reacted by going into a full tantrum, without spoken words.
This person made attempts to reason with her, amongst other things saying “Michelle, come on…”, but she did not seem to care, and instead tried to write messages on a small Etch-A-Sketch while flaying her arms around.
