Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James D’Arcy, Eve Myles, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge have been announced as the newest cast members to join the second season of Broadchurch.
Executive producer and writer, Chris Chibnall, had nothing but praise regarding the additions to the cast: “Marianne [Jean-Baptiste] is one of Britian’s finest actresses, so it’s an honour and a coup for us… As if we didn’t have enough fabulous actresses, it’s a thrill to be joined by Wales’ finest, Eve Myles… Anyone who’s seen Phoebe Waller-Bridge knows she’s already on the way to being a superstar.” Jane Featherstone, one of Broadchurch’s other executive producers, said, “[James D’Arcy’s] extraordinary work in movies such as Cloud Atlas and opposite Anthony Hopkins in Hitchcock makes him another thrilling and important addition to the Broadchurch cast.”
These four join Charlotte Rampling, who was recently announced as a new addition to the cast, and returning actors Arthur Darville, Olivia Colman, and David Tennant.
Broadchurch just won best Drama Series, Leading Actress for Olivia Colman, and Supporting Actor for David Bradley at the 2014 BAFTAs. It was also nominated for the Radio Times Audience Award, but lost to Doctor Who: Day Of The Doctor, which also starred David Tennant.
