Multi-award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and producer Natalie Nicole Gilbert doesn’t let a pandemic keep her down. With an impressive resume, which includes releasing 12 solo albums and being the voice for McDonalds and Quiznos, Gilbert continues to pump out new music. Not long after releasing her nostalgic holiday album, ‘Warm Winter’, last December, this prolific artist is releasing her new dance pop album, ‘Don’t Blink’, which Popwrapped are delighted to premiere.
Gilbert adds this body of work to her list of over a dozen albums of original music, ranging from EDM to jazz to alt pop-rock. For her latest project, the artist teamed up with Latin Grammy-nominated producer, engineer and remixer Robert Eibach whose roster of artists he’s worked with includes Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello and Jennifer Lopez.
Gilbert describes her love of dance as her inspiration behind her new project saying: “I grew up dancing – jazz, ballet, salsa, modern, hip-hop, and every form under the sun. While Covid has temporarily closed dance clubs and classes – and even Billboard dance charts are paused as a result – that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still be finding ways to dance in our living room, move our feet on open air hiking trails, or just relax and have a little fun in the car.”
Regarding how she chose the songs for the ‘Don’t Blink’ album, Gilbert purposely steered towards a variety of moods, as she explains: “I also wanted lyrics that weren’t all pep and upbeat – but also songs about getting through something difficult, pausing to catch your breath, and finding the strength to fly when odds may be against you.”
Among the 10 tracks on ‘Don’t Blink’, Gilbert includes her 2020 original dance cut “Morning Light,” which was considered for a Grammy in the Best Dance category. Fans can also get a nice mix of 80s through the 2000s, with Gilbert’s electro-dance covers of “Broken Wings” by Mr. Mister and Demi Lovato’s 2017 powerhouse single, “Sorry Not Sorry,” as well as Gilbert’s dance covers and extended remixes of “Exhale” (Sabrina Carpenter), “We Are the Flyers” (Lara Fabian), and “Whatever We Started” (Richard Marx).
The album’s producer, Robert Eibach, says about the album: “’Don’t Blink’ was a fun album to work on, as we created a unique and cohesive blend by combining electronic elements with Natalie Nicole’s powerful voice.”
