Naya Rivera Speaks Out About Cory Monteith

Naya Rivera has released a statement following the untimely death of her friend and co-star, Cory Monteith.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter , Ms Rivera said; "The entire Glee family and I are deeply saddened by this tragedy, Cory was, and always will be, a part of my own family and a good friend. He was a special part of this world and will forever be missed. My heart goes out to Cory’s family and Lea; and while we are grateful for everyone’s well wishes, privacy during this time of grief is greatly appreciated."

Naya is part of the original cast of the show which included, amongst others, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale.  The relationship between Santana and Finn was a tempestuous one over the four seasons, however they became friends in the end, and when Santana needed help getting rid of Brody in Season Four, it was Finn who saved the day.

As the news of the death of Cory Monteith slowly starts to sink in for fans and stars alike, thoughts are starting to move as to how Glee will pay tribute to their lost star.

According to a source who spoke to HollywoodLife, there will more than likely be a tribute episode, and Season Five will be dedicated to the memory of the 31 year old star.

"With this being so sudden and unexpected, there have been zero thoughts or discussions on the direction of the show. And there will not be any thoughts on how to react to this till some of the grieving process subsides. … But it’s easy to say there will be a tribute episode, and the season will be dedicated in his honor."

There was no timeline given as to when this episode will be or how the character of Finn will be written out. “Cory will have a never-ending connection to the legacy of the show; it will be handled delicately and with the utmost respect. The whole situation is just completely awful, and those [issues] will be addressed … but it’s safe to say, in the current state people are in over his death, that it will take some time.”

Our thoughts continue to be with the cast and crew of Glee, and the family and friends of Cory at this difficult time.
